Promotional Music Video Recreation: Everyone's Waiting

Promotional Music Video Recreation

My partner and I recreated a short snippet of Missy Higgins' music video by shooting two different shots and replicating the transition in the official music video. We synced the official music video with our recreation through the 'crop' effect on Adobe Premiere Pro.

Our main issue during the production of the recreation was the use of a faulty camera whereby it would automatically stop during the filming of shots. This made it hard to film shots to the full length, especially the first shot which involved lip syncing to the song. To overcome this problem we cut the official music video to the point that we were able to film to reinforce the syntonisation of the two videos.

Another issue was the lack of accuracy of the lip syncing. During post-production we were able to decrease the speed duration to match the soundtrack better.

Furthermore, our first recreation shot lacked depth of field, in comparison to the shot in the official music video. To improve, we should have decreased the aperture of the lens during the filming of the shot.

Finally, we were happy with the outcome of the second shot where the camera successfully focuses on the subject towards the end of the shot.
