First Set of Outfits
For the shots where the dancers are rehearsing as a group, we have selected for them to all to wear casual comfortable clothing: a t-shirt and jogging bottoms or leggings. We specifically wanted them to wear the similar outfits for the audience to clearly perceive them as a group and not just individuals rehearsing in the same place. Therefore, we decided for them to wear their school Dance Company clothing which consists of a black t-shirt and red jogging bottoms or black leggings. This outfit is suitable as it's what is generally worn to dance rehearsals which adds realism to our music video.
Second Set of Outfits
For the shots at the end of the video where the dancers are performing their dance routine, we have chosen for them to all wear a black bodysuit and leggings. The choice of tight fitting clothing accentuates the dance moves which communicate a reoccurring message. Furthermore, the choice of a simplistic looking outfit allows the audience to focus on the dancing as part of the concept of the video. Having all the dancers wear the same outfit makes it clear to the audience that they are no longer rehearsing and this is their final piece.
Protagonist's Outfit
During the music video, there are shots of the protagonist practising the dance routine at home. For these shots, we have chosen for her to wear loungewear clothing which consists of black leggings and an oversized top. This choice of clothing is presented as comfortable and casual which is what would be worn at home. This further helps the audience to understand the setting and adds realism to the video.
Make-up
The gentle and soft beat to our chosen song depicts a natural look for the actresses' make-up. This includes a light coverage and dewy appearance on the skin to create a fresh look which represents the theme of purity in our music video as the dancers become free in their dancing. Also, the use of pink on the eyelids and lips compliment each other, and the feminine colour of pink connotes love which signifies the theme of self-love in our music video as the protagonist learns to let go of her troubles through dancing and love herself.
Hair
In the shots of the dancers rehearsing as a group, their hairstyles will range from a messy bun, a high ponytail or simply down. The images above are example of these looks and they portray a relaxed look to coordinate with the informality of rehearsals. In addition, these are the most common hairstyles worn by females during dance practice, according to the dancers, which helps the music video look realistic. However, in the shots of the dancers performing their final piece, we have chosen for them to have their hair down as shown in the image above on the right. The flow of their hair reinforces the concept of the music video and how the dancers learn to dance freely without anything holding holding them back.
