Location Permission

Dance Studio at BCA

We contacted a local college, BCA, as suggested by one of the dancers in our cast who practises there. We received a response asking for available dates and potential times. This choice of location is ideal as it is local and all the cast members are able to travel there. We were not too particular with the studio, as long as it had a mirror wall which we could film the dancers from and looked like a generic dance studio for the location to be clear to the viewers.

We responded with our available dates and times to film along with the minimum filming duration we would require. Furthermore, we stated that we have an extremely small budget due to our filming being towards school coursework. As a result, we were offered Friday 10 November from 4:15pm without a hiring fee and we happily accepted this offer.

On the scheduled day of filming, I received a phone call from the woman we had been contacting. She unfortunately informed us that due to circumstances beyond her control, she will not be onsite to permit access to the room we were due to film in.

We rescheduled to film exactly the week after as all filming and cast members are available this day: Friday 17 November at 4:15pm.

Norden Farm

An email was sent to Norden Farm requesting the use of their Courtyard Theatre's stage. We hoped to get shots of the dancers performing on the stage with the use of their lighting system. However, the response we received was seeking for a hire fee of £145+VAT per hour. As we didn't have sufficient money to meet this requirement, we unfortunately weren't able to film at Norden Farm.

Main Hall at Newlands Girls' School

Since we were unable to film at Norden Farm, we explored more affordable options. We decided to use our school's facilities as no cost would be required. An email was sent to our Head of PE requesting the use of our school's main hall which has a stage with a lighting system. After further checking for the hall's availability as suggested in the email response, permission to film in the main hall was granted for Friday 10 November at 8am - 9amAlthough the quality of our shots would be slightly lower than filming at Norden Farm, this is a strong alternative as it has the same facilities.
