First Draft: Combination of Main Product and Ancillary Texts

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Our brief was to create a promotional package for the release of an album. To make a successful promotional package, synergy should be consistent throughout each product. This is because synergy ties the music video, album digipak and magazine advertisement together and sells it as one product. I utilised the tools on Microsoft PowerPoint to clearly demonstrate the combination of my main product and ancillary texts as a presentation:












In conclusion, I feel that the combination of my main product and ancillary products work well to sell the album. I incorporated synergy and links between the music video, album digipak and magazine advertisement which mean they work effectively together as one promotional package, whilst also being able to promote the album as a single product. However, a large link between the media products is the use of the colour purple and this could have been made even more evident in the music video. In particular, we could have used additional coloured lighting in the studio shots and purple lighting in the stage shots. With the current product, it appears that this link can only be drawn with awareness of the ancillary products. Although, this emphasises the importance of the combination of the media products.
